gilt and polychrome decoration "Flowers and other plant motifs" and mother-of-pearl inlays, corners of the chessboard face "playing cards in each of the suits", backgammon board face with W.S.C. monogram, chessboard face with inscription on one of the cards E.O.WARD TO W.S.COLVIN - presumed dedication to the primitive owner
