Pre-philately. The LISBON mark. Letter dispatched from Lisbon on February 1, 1800, delivered to the British packet agent in Lisbon, who marked it with the framed LISBON, applied a postage of 1/8 to be paid by the recipient in London. Has the arrival mark of "Foreign Office, MR/22/1800. It is the rarest of the agent's dispatch marks, known in fewer than 6 examples. See: L. Frazao.
