Letter from Lisbon, dated 1 February 1834, to Porto (10 February), carried by hand by sea, bearing the BARRA DO PORTO (PRT-CERCO 1, Rar 7) postmark in black and postage of 80 reis. The text states: “We have received reports from the Army dated the 30th of last month that General Saldanha defeated the Miguelists at Pernes; at the same time, the Duke of Terceira was attacked at two different points on this side of Santarém…”.
