Bidspirit auction | Pre-philately. Letter sent from Pombal
Pre-philately. Letter sent from Pombal on 21.1.1832, sent by hand to Lisbon, to be delivered to the forwarding agent, who signs on the back, with a Lisbon date of 8.2.1832, and sends it to Palermo. On the back it has the mark Lisbon, in red. It went through Spain, entered France through S. Jean de Luz, passed to Antibes, in France where it was marked ”Nizza di Mare”. It has a mark of French size, mark of arrival in Naples on 5.3 and in Palermo on ? .3.1832. It was disinfected with cuts and immersion in bath, which left its marks clearly visible. Interesting letter for the study of postage.
