Maritime mail from Brazil to England to Prussia. Letter sent from Rio de Janeiro on 24/03/1872, transported by the Royal Mail's Neva, delivered to the Brazilian post office which marked it ”POSTAGE PAID FROM RIO DE JANEIRO TO LISBON” with the English PAID mark from Rio de Janeiro. As the letter did not continue to Lisbon, the Paid mark was cancelled, and English stamps worth 1/2 were applied, as well as the London Paid mark, and it subsequently continued to its destination in Prussia. Very rare; letter from Brazil to Portugal written in Rio de Janeiro on 16/1/1871, transported by the Royal Mail's La Plata packet ship, postage marked in Rio ”POSTAGE PAID FROM RIO DE JANEIRO TO LISBON”, where the respective postage was paid (the stamps were removed from the letter), arrived in Lisbon on 16/01/1871, postage paid, postage to be paid of 60 réis in Lisbon. Interesting letter for studying the Prepaid Postage brand.
