City of Washington Crash Mail from Madras – the City of Washington crashed in Normandy, France after taking off from Paris. All Indian mail bound for GB from 13/14 October to 20 October 1930 was aboard the City of Washington aircraft. The cover was not marked with any crash marking and hence very few have survived. The first cover from this crash that we have handled originating from Madras, where it was posted on 17 October. Additionally franked by 1 November delivery and redirection cds. Very Scarce.
