Royal letter dated Lisbon, 25.01.1802, from Prince Regent D. João, of Portugal, addressed to Prince D. Fernando (D. Fernando I, King of the Two Sicilies), in Naples. With regret at the news of the death on 15.11.1801 of Ferdinand's daughter-in-law, Archduchess Maria Clementina of Austria. Maria Clementina was the daughter of Leopold II, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Luisa of Spain. She died in Naples after falling ill after giving birth to a son the previous year. He is thought to have suffered from a prolonged illness or tuberculosis. (On the back there is a large white Royal seal of Portugal.) Dimensions: 217 x 332 mm, 2 pp.
